Ski Lessons near Evanston, IL for Returning Skiers
Haven’t skied in five, ten or twenty years, and now there’s a ski trip on the calendar? Our ski lessons near Evanston help skiers and snowboarders get their skills back before they hit the slopes. We’re at 636 Remington Rd in Schaumburg, about 35 to 40 minutes away, and all training happens in our studio on ski and snowboard simulators.
Our studio is in Schaumburg only. We also welcome people from Skokie, Wilmette and the north side of Chicago.

Get back on skis without starting over
Coming back after a long break is not the same as learning from zero. Your body remembers more than you think, but the first runs can still feel shaky: your stance is too far back, your turns feel stiff and you’re not sure how hard to push. A few sessions on the simulator help you:
- find your balance and stance again
- remember how to control speed and stop
- rebuild smooth, linked turns
- feel confident before you pay for lift tickets
Choose the right option
If you’d like coaching: book a private lesson. An instructor will watch how you ski, explain what to change and help you fix old habits.
- 1 participant: 60 minutes, $135
- 2 participants: 90 minutes, $200
- 4- and 8-lesson packages, valid for 3 months
If you just need practice: book an independent training session on our advanced ski simulator. There is no instructor, but a simulator operator is present during the session. It’s a great way to get your legs back run after run. Available for ages 6 and up.

Why a simulator works for returning skiers
On a mountain, you might get a dozen runs in a morning, with lift rides in between. On a simulator, you ski continuously, so you get more practice in less time. You also get instant feedback from your instructor or the operator, in a warm studio, at any time of year. It’s also a good way to see whether your old boots still fit before your trip. If you have your own boots, bring them.
For first-timers too
Never skied at all? Our beginner simulator and private lessons are made for complete beginners, kids from age 3 and adults.
Habits returning skiers often fix
After a long break, the same few habits tend to come back. A coach can spot them quickly:
- Sitting back. Leaning back makes skis harder to control. We’ll help you get your weight forward over your boots.
- Stiff legs. Bending your knees and ankles absorbs bumps and makes turning easier.
- Looking down at your skis. Looking ahead keeps you balanced and ready for what’s coming.
- Old equipment habits. Modern skis turn more easily than skis from 15 or 20 years ago, so you don’t have to push as hard.
- Too much speed, too soon. We’ll rebuild control first, then add speed.
Fixing these on a simulator, before your trip, means you spend your vacation skiing well, not relearning on the mountain.

Many returning skiers feel ready after 2 to 4 sessions. If you were a beginner before your break, plan for a few more.
