Ski Lessons near Arlington Heights, IL for Kids & Families
Looking for ski lessons near Arlington Heights for your kids, or for the whole family? Snowlike Studio is about a 15-minute drive away, at 636 Remington Rd in Schaumburg. Lessons take place in our studio on ski and snowboard simulators, so your family can learn to ski before you ever get to a mountain, with no cold, no lift lines and no waiting for snow.
Our studio is in Schaumburg only. Many of the families we work with come from Arlington Heights, Palatine, Mount Prospect and other nearby suburbs.

Where kids can learn to ski without the stress
A first day on a real ski hill can be a lot for a child: heavy boots, a crowded bunny slope, cold fingers and a lot of falling. At Snowlike Studio, kids learn the basics one step at a time in a calm, warm space, with an instructor right beside them the whole lesson.
In beginner ski lessons, kids learn how to:
- stand and balance on skis
- slow down and stop with control
- make their first turns
- get back up after a fall without panic
By the time your family gets to the mountain, your child already knows what skis feel like and what to do with them. That usually means more fun on day one and fewer tears.
Lessons for kids, teens and parents
Beginner ski and snowboard lessons are available for children from age 3 and for adults. Every lesson is private:
- 1 participant: 60-minute lesson, $135
- 2 participants: 90-minute lesson, $200 (both should do the same sport and be at a similar level, which works well for siblings or a parent and child)
- Packages: 4 or 8 lessons, valid for 3 months
See all options on Pricing & Booking.
Parents are welcome to learn too. Many parents who have not skied in years, or never skied at all, book a lesson for themselves once they see how quickly their kids progress.
How the first lesson works
- Book online and choose a time that fits your family’s schedule. All lessons are by appointment.
- Arrive about 5 minutes early to sign the waiver.
- Wear long ski socks and comfortable athletic clothing.
- We provide skis, boots and all the equipment you need at no extra cost. If your child already has ski boots or a helmet, feel free to bring them.
Your instructor will start on the beginner ski and snowboard simulator and adjust the pace to your child’s age, energy and comfort level.

Already ski? Get ready for the season
Not every family member is a beginner. Experienced skiers and snowboarders can use our advanced ski simulator to shake off the rust, work on carving and build confidence before a winter trip. Independent training sessions are available for ages 6 and up.
Tips for your child’s first ski lesson
- Talk about it before you come. Tell your child they will wear ski boots and stand on skis, and that falling is part of learning.
- Keep the first goal small. Standing, sliding and stopping is a great first lesson. Turns come next.
- Let the instructor lead. Kids often listen better to a coach than to a parent, so it helps when parents watch quietly from the side.
- Book a regular time. Two lessons a week, or one lesson every weekend, keeps the progress going between sessions.
- Celebrate small wins. The first controlled stop is a big moment, so make sure your child knows it.
Most kids leave their first lesson asking when they can come back. That is the best sign they will enjoy the mountain too.

Frequently asked questions
What is the youngest age for ski lessons?
Beginner ski and snowboard lessons start at age 3. Independent training on the advanced simulator is for ages 6 and up.
Can a parent and child take a lesson together?
Yes. A 90-minute lesson for two participants works well when both are doing the same sport and are at a similar level.
How many lessons does a child need before a ski trip?
It depends on the child, but many beginners feel comfortable after 4 to 8 lessons. A package gives your child steady practice in the weeks before your trip.
Is it really skiing if it’s indoors?
Yes. Your child wears real ski boots and real skis and practices real movements: balance, stopping and turning. The difference is that it happens in a warm studio, at a pace that works for them.
